Chocolate Spread
I had the day off today so my friend, who's place I'm parked up at, was away for a couple of days, but had arranged for the telephone company to come and fix the phone line.
I made myself a cuppa and sat down to read a good book while I waited. I'd only got three pages in when the phone engineer turned up. Sometimes you wait all day for these dude's then when you least expect it they come early! He wasn't here long, maybe half an hour and once he'd done his job and fixed the phone line I was able to get online for a couple of hours.
After some lunch I thought I'd better take advantage of the good weather and get some jobs done outside. Firstly I started by doing a couple of jobs on the van, using sealer on the roof side panels to sort out the leaks, I used 'Sticks Like S**T', it's literally called that and works well. Next I tackled the small holes on the wings. I'm embarrassed to say that d.i.y. isn't my forte so I've made a bit of a hash of it. I used too much hardener in the mix with the filler and it started to go off pretty quick. I slapped it on anyway but unfortunately it looks like a moonscape! Ah well, it's stopped the rain getting in so it'll have to do until I can get it repaired professionally at a body shop.
After the fiasco with the filler I fixed my friends broken shed door. I managed that bit of d.i.y. okay and did a reasonable job but the door needs planing down a couple of millimetres as it won't close properly. I think that's how it broke in the first place, the wet weather had expanded the door and it wasn't shutting properly. Should be able to finish that job by the weekend.
After some lunch I figured it was time for a little recreation so I dug out my skateboard and changed the wheels to a set with a softer hardness. Soft wheels work so much better on the slightly uneven concrete yard at my friends house. I set up a little fold up ramp and found a small sheet of ply in the shed to lean up against the grass bank and was able to skate for about an hour. Not as much fun as skating with other skaters but at least I didn't have to wait to take a run.
Come night time and after a reasonably productive day I really felt like eating something sweet but all I had was some chocolate spread. Unfortunately I had put it in the fridge so of course it was rock hard. I managed to balance it delicately on the heater until after about five minutes it turned to a nice hot liquid chocolate, then with a teaspoon I scooped up a big dollop and ate it. I might of had a couple more spoon fulls before finally settling down in bed to read some more of that brilliant book I started this morning. What a perfect end to a perfect day!
